The (Black) Lyric: Workshop

Description:

For many of us, the Lyric is difficult to define or get a solid grasp of. In this workshop we will delve into the slippage of the Lyric as it has come to be understood traditionally, while simultaneously exploring the Black poet’s response and innovation of the Lyric. Through the work of a curated selection of works from both foundational and contemporary Black poets, we will uncover the powerful potential of the Lyric as written and expressed through the voices of those held outside of traditional conventions and definitions of the Lyric.

The workshop will run once a week for 5 weeks, on Thursday nights. Tuition for the workshop is due by July 20th. Tuition can be paid via Venmo (Sojari-Bradley) and Cashapp ($sojari). Please provide your name and insert “workshop” in the section indicating what your payment is for.

A maximum of 15 seats are available. First come first serve. Refunds are available until July 21st.
